"DESIGNS THAT REFLECT OUR
AMERICAN HERITAGE"

Welcome to my blog. I'm probably very much like all of you who love the needlearts. My life revolves around family, friends, home and all things that help to make for a more contented life. When time allows; cooking, gardening, decorating, and collecting are my joys. I look forward to sharing all of these things with you. I also hope to keep you up to date on what is going on at Homespun Elegance, in regard to the needlework designs and the "Plain & Fancy Wares" that we offer.

Wishing you "Many Happy Stitches".

Delivering Easter Wishes

Good Spring Morning To You!
Dropping by on this Friday before Easter to
wish each and every one of you a most glorious
Easter.  I hope it is going to be filled with love,
friends and family.  Lehmer and I will be
leaving early tomorrow to celebrate the
Easter weekend with our children
in Richmond.  Cannot wait to share Easter
fun with Avery.  This will be the first year
that he will actually participate in
some fun activities.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today is going to be very busy indeed.  I
have lots of cooking to do.  Hollis is
hosting our Easter Brunch this year, but
I will be taking some food down.  We are
all pitching in, which always makes it
easier.  I'm making sugar cookies here
and then we will decorate them Saturday
night.  I'll definitely try to share some
pictures.  I'm really excited about
my Easter cake.  Hope it turns out as
planned.  Before I get started on all of
of "happy work", I want to share some
other pictures of Easter at the
Sullivan's.  Even though everyone
isn't coming here this year, I just can't
help myself.
Love to wrap my candles with something and
this lacey straw ribbon is perfect for Spring.
The candle is "Citrus and Sage" from
Yankee Candle.  Next to the Original scent
from Claire Burke (which I can hardly
ever find anymore), this is my favorite for
spring and summer.
Don't you love that sweet little basket~
 A "vintage" chick nestled with some wonderful
eggs I found in Wilmington, NC a few weeks ago.
Said I wasn't going to buy more Easter
stuff.  Never say ~ never!
 A cross stitch bunny that I did years ago~
 Chalk ware, celluloid, and metal.
"Olde" and much loved~
 More olde stuff!
The egg is one that I used to make and sell
in my shoppe.  It is painted papermache
and tied with ripped and aged scrim.
 Waxed eggs, lavender covered (done for me years ago by
my sweet friend Bobbie, and some eggs covered with
tansy annie ~ they smell so good!
 Don't you love this olde wooden painted egg.
Much of the design is gone, so I handle it
very carefully.
Tucked for safe keeping in a really big jar.  The
jar is filled with all the dried white roses that I
have been given (and bought for myself-haha).
They turn the most wonderful color.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you enjoy this season as much as I do.  Not
looking forward to all the much needed clean up
in the yard, but I guess that just goes with
the season.  Let's hope we all get to enjoy
a lovely Spring since the Winter was so hard.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wish you a very special weekend.  Maybe we
can all squeeze in a few stitches, but if not,
that is OK.
Blessings to all of you,
Sandra
Decorating With My Needlework
Hi Everyone!
I've posted two pictures in a new group,
over the last few days.  I wanted to
share them with you too.
Do you like to find unique ways to
use your stitching in decorating
your home?
I know I do because I have certainly
run out of walls after 30+years of
designing.
Here are a couple of my ideas.
This is in my Guest Bathroom -
no room gets neglected in this
house.  I know my guests wonder
what in the world is this stuff, but
who cares, they are my little
treasures.  I enjoy looking at them.
And here are my Easter eggs.  Obviously I do like
to put "all of my eggs in one basket".
~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you love "primitive style" stitching, then
this is the Group for you.  You are going
to absolutely flip over all the stitching,
finishing ideas, and just general of love
of this style.  I highly recommend it!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have a great week.  I'll be in Richmond Monday
and Tuesday with little Avery.  Not much
stitching getting done when I'm there, but
I hope to work on next Needle Case when
he's napping.  Maybe I'll have something to
share when I get home.
Now You Know ~
Good Afternoon Everyone!
Well, that was really fun.  I got a real variety of
great answers. You won't believe this but the first person
 to comment was correct.
She is
 "WITCH OF STITCHES",
so she will get the free publication.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember I mentioned that there would
be a second model with a different
saying.  The first person to guess it
is
"LYNDA (GRANNY K).
That saying is
"Still friends after all these years"
~~~~~~~~~~~~
All I need from both of you is your shipping
address and it will be on its way as soon
as it is published.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now for the good news ~ I think I must have
made this too easy because so many of you
guessed correctly.
I had eight correct answers for the
lst saying and four for the second.
As a consolation prize, if any of you
would like to have this design when it is
published, I will give you a 25% discount.
I will have to add shipping though, sorry.
THE CONSOLATION PRIZE WINNERS
ARE ~
Debbie Kos
Chocolates for Breakfast
Kathy L
Cucki
Mary
Christie
Barb Gallagher
Michelle
Debbie Boivin Kos
I will have your names here on the Blog.  So
when it is published, just let me know.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Haven't decided how I want to finish this and
the other model.  Suggestions appreciated!
Thanks everyone for participating!
A Little Glimpse and A Contest
Good Morning Everyone!
It is a beautiful Spring morning here in Virginia.
I really need to get out in the yard but it
will have to wait until the weekend.
I wanted to share a "little glimpse" of
something coming your way very soon
and to make it fun too.
~~~CONTEST~~~
You have until SUNDAY at noon to
become a follower on my Blog and to make
a comment. This design will
include two sayings.  The first
one to guess one of the sayings will receive
a copy of the design.  If the other
saying is guessed too, I will send the
design to that person as well.
GOOD LUCK!
~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hope you like the "little glimpse".

~SOME UPDATES~
~The Marking Sampler is almost finished.  I know
you are saying "sure".  But it really is.
~Working on the last of the Halloween Year II
~My Christmas design was mailed to JCS.  Yeah!
Another deadline almost met.
~I have a Trunk Show this weekend at
Stitcher's Stash's Retreat
~The 2nd in my Needle Case Series is stitched, now
I have to make the fob and put it all together.
I'll be showing another glimpse of that in a
few days.  Once again, there is still time to
get in on the fun.

Sweet Little Spring Design

Good Afternoon!
I am rushing like crazy because Hollis and I
are leaving for a little weekend trip.
Avery is going too.  It is a six hour trip
so we are a little anxious how he is
going to handle being confined that
long.  It could be interesting.
Wish us luck.
We are both going to visit dear friends.  Mine
lives in Wilmington, NC.  Can't wait.  The
weather is going to be beautiful and
antiquing is planned.  Yeah!!!
Hollis is going on to Columbia, SC
where is weather is going to be perfect
too.  Avery will have his little friend,
Laney, to play with.
A good time should be had by all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
"LOVING BUNNY"
I am reprinting this design.  It has
always been one of my favorites.
Just in time for Spring and Summer
and a quick stitch.
It is $8.75 (shipping included).  Hope you like
it and can fit it into your Spring stitching.
"Many Happy Stitches",
Sandra
